Prom Pics :)

The bouteniers

I actually made the boutenier for my date by myself. I was very excited it turned out :)

Me and Rachel made flower clips with the flowers we didn't use in the boutenier.

Mary and Katie came over to get ready for prom.

Rachel showing off her beautiful purple nails.

Putting on our make-up!

Mary and Rachel probably thought I was crazy for taking pics of this.... but when has that ever stopped me before?

Me finally putting on some make-up! I had gone all day with out it.

Getting our hair done. Katie was nice enough to let me do her hair and make-up :) I love dressing up people!

(Notice I no longer have my glasses on :) I got to wear contacts that night, woooooo!)

Rachel looking gorgeous in all of her prom gear.

All of the girls. (Ilah had to get in on the photo action. She got dressed up and everything, it was adorable.) :D

Mormon girls looking seductive or atleast trying to lol. It didn't work out so well seeing as we were all trying to hold back giggles.

I'm not sure what we're looking at :)

Rachel's individual picture

I took this pic! :D

Aren't I cute? (This is how my face looks normally lol)

Ilah being adorable =D

Mine and Rachel's dates got to my house way early, so they had to wait awkwardly with my dad until we were ready.
(Tip#1 for guys- don't get there early!!! There is plenty of time to spend together on the actual date)
The crew

Us being goofy

Corsage time!

This picture shows off Rachel's beautiful dress!

Pinning on the boutenier... I had one of me pinning on James', but I'm not sure where it went.

James has a big old grin in this one...

So, I compensated by having a big cheesy grin in this one =D

Snoop is Ilah's prom date
(Snoop even has a tie on)
Don't they make a great looking couple!?!

Off to Prom

Sorry, these last two pictures are out of order.

I have to admit prom was only okay, but priest and laurel was the best!!! :)
Priest and laurel was a great night because I danced with a ton of guys (there were actually more guys than girls! that never happens for church dances), there was no pressure to be "loyal" to your date, the food was great, my dad's lesson was phenominal (even though he made fun of me being a terrible driver, which I'm not by the way, but he said that and it sparked a lot of conversations), and I felt comfortable and had fun!
Prom on the other hand was really awkward. My date decided to change the time he was going to come and get me without even mentioning the idea to me. So he came super early. We went out to eat at a Thai restaraunt which was really good, the problem was that I had to start and keep every conversation. (Thankfully my friend Rachel and her date were there so it wasn't horribly awkward.) Since the guys had come so early, we finished dinner and still had an hour before the dance would start. I had to come up with ideas to do! And then no one would decide which of my ideas we should do, so I had to decide that too! (Tip#2 for guys- have a plan. It gets annoying when you ask us girls what we want to do constantly.) When we got to the dance, we just kind of stood around talking to other friends because they wouldn't ask us to dance. I eventually had to ask my date to dance because I felt awkward just standing there. By nine o'clock the main room was full of a bunch of kids dirty dancing, so Rachel and I dissapointed our dates by going to the other room. They didn't come with us, they stayed in the grinding room. About half an hour later, my friend Beth comes and tells me that James is sad that I'm not dancing with him. Well, of course I'm not dancing with him!!! One-he never asked me and Two- he is in the grinding room. Disregarding this fact, my "friend" drags me into the other room and pushes me into James. Again, I have to ask him to dance! (Tip#3 Guys take charge, for pete's sake!) After the slow dance, people once again begin grinding, so I tell my date that I don't feel comfortable and that I am going to head into the swing dancing room. He looks dissapointed and begs me to stay. (Tip#4 Don't make your date feel guilty about trying to keep their standards high!) By this point I'm done. I talk to friends and wait for another hour before I can finally leave.
Despite my ranting, the night wasn't actually horrible, but I would never choose to go through that again. Maybe I just took things to heart too much, because he liked me and I didn't like him. And even though I made it clear that we were just going as friends (I really did tell him that) he seemed to take everything too seriously and it was weird. He is still my friend, but he will no longer be a date of mine.
In conclusion, Mormon prom dominates regular prom. End of story.
Sincerely, your over exagerative prom person,
Taysom Wallace

Go Taysom!! People who grind just don't know how to dance, and are dirty... So I'm proud of you for doing what's actually cool. SWING! I agree with all of your tips for guys. It's too bad most of them never catch on to that stuff in high school, so be prepared for plenty of awkward dates. Weird, I feel like I was just doing this stuff. You look incredible in all your prom pics! He was one lucky guy!!

Taysom, you are BEAUTIFUL...inside and out! Loved the boutonnieres! Wish you'd had a better time at the prom, but thanks for telling us all about it, and for being such a good example.

Hahaha! Clearly, your date doesn't have a lot of experience dating! I think it is so funny that they came so early and you had to keep asking HIM to dance. We'll swap bad high school date stories when I see you next. I'm so glad that you loved the Mormon prom. You are going to have so much fun at college!! You looked great, btw. :)

Natalie and I were just saying that this prom story will be told on multiple occasions over the years. You will even tell your sons and daughters about proper dating etiquette via this story. Thanks for being such a great example to our daughters Tay. We love you.

Thanks everyone! Haha, I'm really relieved no one is telling how mean I am for complaining so much :)

Rachel- I agree! More highschoolers need to learn to dance, cause the "dancing" was ridiculous. Guess what! some of my friends are taking swing with me this summer! I'm so excited :)

Grandma- I felt so much like you when I made the boutenier :) It definitely took some creativity, but I felt awesome when I finished it... you must feel like that all the time!

Becca- I can't wait to swap the stories! :)

Uncle Russ- Ya, we'll have to make sure every boy hears the story and more importantly the tips :) It would be sweet if this story did make it into the Crosby family folklore. Thanks for seeing me as a good example :)

Love,
Taysom

I'm so sorry, I just saw your blog entry. I was gone to Disneyland for four days.

I think prom is awkward. I went with your Granddad and it was silly.

I'm sure college will be awesome and you'll find the "Man" of your dreams.

I always loved watching your Mom and Dad as they bonded. The church is true and they knew it. Michael was a take charge guy with great ideas for dates.

We are so proud of you! Heavenly Father has great plans for you.

You went to disneyland!?! Fun! :)
Haha, I'm hoping that man of my dreams hurries up and finds me lol Ya, mom always tells me all the creative things my dad did while they were dating. I hope my future husband will end up being like him :)
I love you both!

Love,
Taysom

Aw! Thanks Zadi! :) Haha, I was :) He didn't want me to wear heels because it would make him look really short, but I couldn't resist lol

Love ya!
