Flowers, Jewelry, Romantic Dinner????

Happy Valentine's Day to me! Flowers, jewelry, romantic dinners, etc. are all wonderful gift ideas for Valentine's Day, but when you've had a problematic kitchen faucet ever since installation 4.5 years ago... the new faucet is the only way to go.

Since Valentine's Day was on a Sunday, we decided to celebrate on Monday. I had big plans of going to see Percy Jackson, some grocery shopping and making a "fancy" dinner in the evening. As often happens, the day didn't quite turn out as planned.

I woke Mike up Monday (a special sleep in day since it was President's Day) asking him to come check the kitchen sink. There had been a big leak - evidence down in the basement - and the faucet wasn't sounding good or turning off correctly. While the kids and I ate waffles, he spent a good chunk of time diagnosing the problem and then taking the old faucet out. Secretly I was soooo happy that we had to replace it :) It has been a problem since day one. We then encountered a few more inconveniences - the vacuum wheel thingy wasn't spinning. When I tried to figure out why, I noticed that the bag was so full it was overflowing - YUCK! So I replaced the bag and cleaned up the huge nasty dust mess and cleaned the wheel up, but it still was having issues... Mike was going to have to fix that too. Then Taysom came in from cleaning out the van and showed me a puddle of rust/red liquid from where the van had been in the garage. I told Mike that the van was probably leaking transmission fluid. Since we just had the transmission redone at the beginning of the school year, it is thankfully under warranty.

We did make it grocery shopping and to the movies. (Although the movie isn't that close to the book, I still really enjoyed it. The best movie this year, though, is The Blind Side.) Our fancy dinner, however, was replaced with Subway sandwiches since the kitchen was out of commission. It is amazing how much we use the kitchen sink. After one day without it, the kitchen was a pig sty. I couldn't wait to do some dishes after Mike installed the new faucet. The water pressure was even. There wasn't an annoying sound. And the best part is, no leaks!

Thanks honey!

Oh, and he fixed the vacuum, cut the boys' hair, and will pick up the fixed van today. I am one lucky lady!!!!!

I'm with you! forget the flowers and chocolate, go clean the bathroom!! I'm so excited you're coming here!!! you have no idea!! We will for sure be in the Rexburg area till then, we just may not be in this same apartment depending on the new owners of the storage units. I'm sure mom filled you in. I should just call you soon anyway. But yes, we will do anything to make sure we're here to hang out with you guys! If we're still in this apartment, there may still even be beds etc in the small apartment upstairs you and kids could stay in if needed! Longest comment in the history of comments. I'm so glad you updated your blog! I'm so glad the kitchen sink is fixed. Love you all!

Did I miss something? When are you going to Rexburg? And for what occasion? That is exciting!

Congrats on the faucet! Bigger congrats on marrying someone who can and will do those things around the house that keeps life running smoothly.

Happy Valentine's!

Sounds like my life. We went to a ward V-day partay, and had a great time, but someone made fun of my "seen better days purse" and I was like, yep, I have to make due these days. Our washing machine is on its' last leg, both car registration renewals are due next month, Zadi needs an eye appointment and new contacts, we just had 2 birthdays, and so there were no chocolates or jewelry for me either this year. You know what though, Russ made some homemade cards with the girls, he made breakfast, and did the dishes twice...TWICE and I could not have been happier that he is my hubby!
And, what is the deal with going to see Rach?

Wow, Mike really is a handy man. I'm guessing that comes with owning a home. I might be calling to ask him some questions about our leaking disposal. The new faucet looks fabulous. :)

Taysom and Tucker are going to EFY the first week of August. Taysom dug in her heels and said she was going to one of the BYU Idaho sessions since she wants to go to school there the following year. I didn't put up a fight because I figured I'd probably be taking Tay and Tuck and get to hang out with Rach and family while they're at EFY. Plus that week doesn't interfere with any of Tucker's summer camps, etc.

Sister get together anyone???

By the way, don't get me wrong, one of these days I would love some nice jewelry ;)

Becca, we'd love to come visit and help with something! Your new house looks so nice.
